3 captures 20 Apr 2001 - 25 Oct 2009 MAR APR SEP 20 2000 2001 2009       About this capture Salman:   A Decade of See-Sawing Fortunes by Vivek Vaswani Salman started his career in a B grade film called  Biwi Ho To Aisi  which had Rekha and Farooq Shaikh in the lead roles and was presented by K.C.Bokadia. In his juvenile role he was opposite a girl called Renu Arya who was forgotten after a brief appearance in  Chandni . The film strangely enough became a success but nobody gave Salman any credit for it. He was just another new face. Being the son of writer Salim Khan, Salman was born and brought up in the film industry. In 1988-89 Salman Khan was known more for his liaisons, first with a girl called Shaheen and later the then top model Sangeeta Bijlani. Nothing much would have happened to Salman as he was then assisting Shashi Lal Nair in  Falak  and he was just a nice, good looking guy. Even Salim himself did not have much faith in Sa...

Despite his pleading and cajoling, the starry-eyed young man was told by his folks to nix the idea of discontinuing his studies for acting. He begged his uncle, director Nasir Husain, to allow him to work as his assistant. At the end of a huge row it was agreed that the youngster could assist his uncle but go to class as well. Young Aamir Khan's heart, though, was set on working in films. One fine day his dream appeared to come true when Ketan Mehta called to say he was looking for guys to act in his next movie Holi. Aamir's eyes popped up in excitement and then cringed in terror. He had just shaved his head, just for the kick! As he stared at the phone in disbelief, he felt like kicking himself. The youngster gave...

S alman Khan has returned -- and how! He's silenced all his critics with Tere Naam, a film that didn't deserve to but has become huge a hit . Salman's popularity, which was being questioned after his notorious escapades , is obviously still intact. The film's unprecedented success has surprised even Salman himself and for the time , he even had a party to celebrate the record breaking opening that the film got. The controversial superstar was all defenses down recently when he gave an interview to a TV channel . For the first time ever , he even commented on Vivek Oberoi. "I call him little Vivek", he chided. Incidentally, here's something we heard about Salman from extremely 'reliable' source and we must share that with you . When Vivek was hospitalized recently, Salman actually prayed for his recovery and not only that, he even told all his friends to pray for him. Hard to believe? But that's exactly what the main is all about. Unpredictabl...
a disastrous Box-office performance in 2002 , when only Raaz hit the bull eye at the box office. The year started with an average grosser called  Kaante . It was thorns all the way for the multi-starrer featuring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Mahesh Manjeraker and Kumar Gaurav along with Sunil Shetty and Lucky Ali. Sunny Deol’s  The Hero,  shot at a mind-boggling budget of Rs. 55 crore, sank without a trace. The biggest shock came when Sooraj Barjatya’s  Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon  bombed. The director’s attempt to glamorise the Rajshri’s traditional mushy-mushy family drama, didn’t go well with the audiences, they gave it a thumbs down. Another big blow for the industry was the sinking of Honey Irani’s directorial debut  Armaan . The film had the best of everything—star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Preity Zinta; script by the director, lyrics by Javed Akhtar and a mega budget of Rs 50 crore. But  Armaan  still remained the di...
