  1999 didn’t start on an encouraging note for the best selling star of 1998, with Janam Samjha Karo failing to live up to the hype. However, Salman quickly made amends with Biwi No.1 which Govinda had rejected because of its feminine title. A macho Salman had no problems on that count and the film gave one of the year’s biggest hits. The super success of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam shot his ratings higher. Coming in the wake of two super-hits, his home production Hello Brother opened to a bumper initial draw but Salman’s virtuoso performance wasn’t enough to salvage a film abounding in juvenile humour.    The Year Of Surprises : 1991 It was the year of surprises. The year witnessed some of the unexpected successes via Phool Aur Kaante, Izzat, Saathi, Maa and Aye Milan Ki Raat .  The entire year was ruled by music and love story . Music was the real superstar of the year. Nadeem-Sharavan are the top music directors. The three blockbusters - Saajan, Sanam Bewafa and Phool Aur Kaante were boasted by the their super-hit music.The success ratio of 1991 is much better compared to the previous year. 1991 witnessed around 30 successes according to trade guide editor, Taran Adarsh.  Saajan, Phool Aur Kaante and Sanam Bewafa are the only Super Duper Hits of 1991.
