After the disastrous performance of most hyped films of 1998 Dil Se And Duplicate starring Shahrukh Khan has resulted into dilemma . Is he actually worth calling a superstar?. Let's ask the views of distributors. A distributor (wishing  anonymity when asked for his views) said Shahrukh Khan is not a superstar at all. Dil Toh Pagal Hai maybe a big hit but that does not justify his saleability. It was the songs that had film run otherwise Bhai which released neck to neck with Dil Toh Pagal Hai (DTPH) got a much better opening. His other starrers Pardes and Yes Boss couldn't even open to a decent initial and did poor business in interiors . Now the debacle of Dil Se and Duplicate (expect in Mumbai) has once again proved that Shahrukh Khan cannot give hits without the support of big stars and big banners. Today only Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgan and to some extent Govinda, Sunil Shetty films does well in interiors. Shahrukh Khan who, according to me is a fabulous actor, does not do well in interiors, his films just do wells in cities (but that's too need the backing of huge cast and banners) . The distributor don't gain from it.  We rely mostly on the interiors where there are more viewers. Today with so much competition it is impossible for a star to stay at top for long. Again, another problem with SRK is that he does all big banners movies , if the star cast and big banners is good then the film will sell well but for Shahrukh as an individual. The same goes for Aamir Khan ,Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor starrers.
