There is now as a big rush to the cinemas
when a good Hindi film is released as there
would be in India, particularly if the picture
stars top artist like Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor,
Ashok Kumar, Nargis and Nalini Jaywant.
And Hindi films which have exerted
a strong pull at the box-office include "Aan",
" Awara", "Barsaat", " Andaz", "Mahal", "Dee-
daar", "Kismet", " Jugnu" ,"Baaz" ,"Shaheed"
and "Albela".  These titles indicate the taste
of varied taste of our filmgoers which also
extend to their favorite star preferences.
The teenagers' favorite Nimmi (among
the boys) and Dev Anand (among the
school girls) . The more sophisticated
among the younger generation vote
Nargis as the star they like best. Then
follow Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Nal-
ini Jaywant and Raj Kapoor in order of
the popularity. Older people choose
their favorite Hindi stars differently.
With them Nargis leads among the wo-
men, Dilip Kumar and Ashok Kumar am-
ong the men. The ranking of other,  am-
ong this class would be Nalini Jaywant,
Raj Kapoor and Madhubala , in the order
of the popularity. Those who likes films
for the sake of dance  for them would
, ofcourse, place Suraiya first in the list.
Among the dancers (not the classical type)
not seen in the  Hindi films Cuckoo is the
perennial favorite. As far as initial crowd draw
for a film is concerned there is no second tho-
ught about the fact that there is nobody in the
film industry who is even close to the super
popularity of Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar films
are always safe propositions. They do well
at the box-office and guarantee mega bucks
for the distributors and producers. The distrib-
utors  buys his film at whatever the cost is,
which is not the case with the other act-
ors, says a film distributor. After Dilip Kumar
there is Ashok Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand
and Bharat Bhushan who are  popular with the
filmgoers crowd but there films does not exactly
guarantee initial crowd draw for a film  like the
way Dilip Kumar's films guarantee.
